Model overview based on user reviews
The Electric Planer Rebir IE-5708M is a powerful tool designed for heavy-duty tasks, boasting a planing width of 155 mm and a depth of 3.5 mm, making it suitable for processing boards in a single pass. Users appreciate its ability to handle large volumes of work, such as planing beams, with a decent quality finish. However, the planer is quite heavy, which some find advantageous as it requires less pressure during use. The dust removal system is criticized for frequent clogging, especially with wet wood, and the vacuum adapter is difficult to install. The power button is noted to be stiff, which can lead to finger fatigue. While the build quality is solid, the appearance and plastic quality receive negative feedback, described as reminiscent of outdated design. Despite these drawbacks, the planer is considered functional for specific tasks, though not ideal for aesthetic appeal in a workshop.
Pros
Cons
Powerful, at this planing width you can't do with less power. And even this one stalls at a cutting thickness of up to 2mm on beams straight from the sawmill. I planed 20 cubic meters of 150mm beams on both sides and chamfered it. Planes quite cleanly until the blades dull, now I've reversed the blades. Heavy - more of an advantage, no need to press down, just guide it. The shavings get clogged because they're wet! The button is tight, but this is necessary to prevent relaxation and maintain full control over the heavy, powerful, and quite dangerous device. I haven't mounted it stationary and won't try to—it's clear that the equipment for this is completely "weak." The thickness adjustment is non-existent; I set it by "eye." use Rebir IE-5708M month or more |
Width, planing depth. The board is processed in one pass. The quality of planing is very decent I threw out the vacuum adapter immediately, it's simply impossible to install it. The chip ejection doesn't work. Chips accumulate regardless of the wood's moisture level. After each pass, I have to pick out the chips. The mounting in an inverted position is beyond criticism. The power button is stiff, and fingers get tired very quickly. use Rebir IE-5708M month or more |
It won't become a decoration for the workshop. You pick it up and immediately realize - SOVOK. Made in the worst traditions of soviet-style construction. The designer and technologist deserve a nail in the head for the technical decisions made in this product. Wide and powerful, that's all the positive things I can say about this unit. You can process a board in one pass. I have nothing bad to say about the build quality,... assembled - it doesn't fall apart. Very heavy. Appearance - ugly. Plastic quality - terrible (I haven't seen worse in a long time). Additional accessories can be thrown away immediately. It is simply impossible to secure the adapter to the vacuum cleaner, if you want to turn it over using the provided metal parts, you are in for a surprise. The storage box is not convenient. use Rebir IE-5708M week |

2. Install the stand for stationary setup at the front and use it as a handle for the left hand – it's very convenient, it's even better to wrap it with something to reduce vibration. In this case, you won't be holding the depth adjuster handle and loosening it. Also, it's convenient to place it vertically on the front edge.
3. When working with a width of 150mm or slightly less, install the guide ruler – it provides a good support and prevents wobbling.
4. Do not take more than 2 mm on wet wood, as it might stall, and you could end up burning the motor armature. Repair – replacement of armature costs 2-3 thousand.
5. Start only in idle mode and wait 2-3 seconds until this beast revs up.
6. Take a wooden block 20x20x300mm, sharpen one side into a sharp wedge – it's convenient for pushing shavings out of the plane's cavity, which I do on the fly with my left hand. If it gets caught by the blade, it's not dangerous – it might just trim it a bit. Just avoid using hard wood or metal! This solves the problem of clogging shavings.
