Pioneer has always been famous for its high-quality sound-reproducing equipment, and the SE-MJ503 headphone model, despite the low-cost, is no exception.

Design features

The design of the model is strict, not pretentious, here the manufacturer did not reinvent the wheel and diluted some stinginess in appearance with 5 colour options (green, white, blue, red and traditional black). Moreover, in the first three versions, the ear pads and cable are white, and in red, they are black, which very refreshes the appearance of the model.

The whole design is quite light (126 g) and compact, the soft headband is adjustable, the bowls can be rotated, the ear cushions are comfortable and resilient, made of high-quality dense leatherette, which is difficult to distinguish from genuine leather. The cable is double-sided with an L-shaped tip, but it's too thin. Looks unreliable. Otherwise, the assembly is solid, Japanese scrupulousness is visible in the details.

The power of low frequencies

The sound is not bad, even almost good, especially in the low-frequency range. The middle is without frills, but it is heard quite clearly and legibly. There is a slight dip in the highs, and at high volumes they sound crumpled and inexpressive, but overall, the sound picture is wide, clear and rich, and will satisfy most open-minded listeners.

The SE-MJ503 is a well-balanced model with no obvious flaws. Even novice music lovers will like it, for lack of a better option at hand.
