a model with serious flaws
18 June 2018
The top A70k features a built-in Sabre DAC, which is basic in sound, with the typical Sabre's sharp and unpleasant sound signature. But there's no question about it, the DAC is an option, and it works like a remote without complaints. However, the amplifier is a nightmare. The buttons are loose, the volume knob wobbles. The preamplifier noticeably degrades the sound, the only analog inputs you can listen to without irritation are just one pair of tuners. The pair of RCA CD inputs just falls apart with distortions. But that's not all. The power amplifier does everything it shouldn't: the sound tends to transition into whistles, hissing, distortion, self-oscillation with characteristic noise trails. And all this sounds awful, in line with all stereotypes about class D. We take off the cover, and what do we see. Metal covering the power supply units. Fine. The preamplifier, amplifier, and DAC are made on different boards. Cheap components, cheap capacitors. The amplifier's design strongly resembles mass-produced ready-made amplification modules, like IcePower, whose use in hi-fi is unacceptable. Even Denon DRA-F109 or Onkyo 9030's internal components cost more. It's unclear why Pioneer decided to do this. The quality and cost of the components are lower than in mediocre computer motherboards, even the cables between the boards seem like cheap computer mini IDE types.
Nothing. Even the quality of workmanship - sharp corners, and uneven surfaces, bending due to the thinness of the metal. For Russia, materials were made cheaper, metal in some parts was replaced with plastic, etc.
This amplifier is unlistenable, unpleasant to use, and impossible to live with. A hunk of metal.

With such a poor service, the purchase of products from this company does not make sense.
14 August 2019
Over the half-century period of being passionate about music, I have used a variety of equipment, including from the company Pioneer. Of course, there were breakdowns, but repeat failures were extremely rare. However, I was unlucky with the Pioneer A-70 amplifier. The issue has occurred for the fifth time: when there is no sound signal for several minutes, the protection triggers. The amplifier has been in repair for several months at a time. On two occasions in the local service center, the malfunction resolved itself, but after a month or two, everything repeated. After the fourth failure, the power supply unit was replaced. This time, the amplifier worked for more than a year, but again, a similar failure occurred.
The amplifier has been awarded many accolades, which served as the main criterion for its purchase. Indeed, it performs its functions well, but there seems to be a systemic failure when it comes to reliability. I sent an official letter to the top management of the company. I received a cynical response with advice to seek help on the corporation's website. Alas, I was unable to register on the site. The message I sent showed: BEING PROCESSED #231849 Created on Sat, Aug 3 at 5:19 PM.
This "help" ended there. No response was received within 10 days...
Design, functionality, low power consumption
Extremely low reliability, lousy technical support
use Pioneer A-70DA more than year
great model, I really liked it

Very carefully approached the choice of amplifier. I did not want to buy a compromise model and sacrifice sound quality. I am very glad that I chose the A-70DA. Listening before buying, of course, allowed us to evaluate the sound quality, but in the home environment everything turned out to be more interesting. The first thing I felt after buying was the weight. The amplifier weighs almost 20 kg, and every kilogram, judging by the sound quality, is needed and works one hundred percent. Characteristics of the signal-to-noise ratio (Main) - 110 dB - a very worthy figure. Now about three months have passed since the purchase and the amplifier shows itself perfectly in operation. The sound quality is still only pleasing. The minimum set of sound adjustments is enough, and these are adjustments for treble and bass, balance, level and loudness. Would I buy this model again - yes, without hesitation.
