For snowy winter
The tent of the Czech brand Pinguin is a winter and well-prepared for snowy weather version of another popular expeditionary model — Gemini 150 Extreme. The main difference is the presence of a skirt, which will not allow snow and other precipitation to be under the bottom and cause it to get wet.
The bottom of the model is made of nylon and covered with polyurethane, giving high resistance to precipitation (10000 mm). The outer canopy of the Pinguin Gemini 150 Extreme Snow is also nylon. The fabric is protected from tearing (RipStop system) and has decent water resistance (4000 mm) for winter use.
Symmetrical design
The inner tent has a traditional rectangular layout with two entrances on the long sides. The fabric canopy of the doors is duplicated by mosquito nets, and behind them there are vestibules 80 cm long each. The manufacturer calls the model the best choice for 2 – 3 people, but de facto a berth measuring 220x150 cm is the standard double option. Consequently, three owners of an average build literally “can’t turn around” here, and a tent can be considered the best solution for two or a family with a young traveler.
Lightweight but reliable
The stable hemispherical design of the tent is given by the usual trinity of aluminium arcs, which are 9.5 mm thick. And additional "streamlining" provides a moderate overall height (115 cm).
If, nevertheless, we consider the model as a three-seater, then it will please with a moderate weight: the total 3.6 kg per person “turns” into an acceptable 1.2 kg. In addition, the tent is not too bulky when folded (50x17x17 cm), which fans of hiking will appreciate.
The Pinguin Gemini 150 Extreme Snow is a good option for winter or other extreme hikes, or conditions where light weight is prioritized over comfort and spaciousness.
