Smooth gameplay
Patriot Viper RGB is the so-called "gaming" RAM, that is, with an optimal ratio of frequency and timings and, as a bonus, RGB lighting. Indeed, in certain PC configurations, for example, a low-cost one with an integrated Radeon Vega 8 graphics card, or vice versa, a top-end one with a GeForce RTX 2070 Super or higher, high-frequency RAM significantly increases the average FPS in games and eliminates microfreezes (abnormal frame time jumps).
Yin and Yang
Patriot Viper RGB is sold exclusively in pairs with a total volume of 16 GB, but factory frequencies can vary over a wide range. So, modifications with white metal radiators are found from 2666 to 3200 MHz, and with black ones — up to 4133 MHz. By the way, Patriot also has other 4000+ MHz high-frequency memory models in its assortment for those who are faithful to the classics without RGB lighting: Viper Steel and Viper 4 Blackout.
All the colours of the rainbow
And if you are just a fan of luminous computer components, then each Patriot Viper RGB bar has five independent backlight zones, the colour and flickering mode of which can be configured separately using the proprietary Viper RGB App or software from motherboard manufacturers: ASUS Aura, MSI Mystic , Gigabyte Fusion, ASRock Polychrome or Biostar Vivid.
Subtleties of overclocking
Right at the factory, two XMP auto overclocking profiles were sewn into the top version of the Patriot Viper RGB: the main one at 4133 MHz with CL19 timings and a supply voltage of 1.4 V, and a backup one at 4000 MHz in case a specific Intel Core processor or Z370 / Z390 motherboard cannot start on the main frequency. Owners of AMD platforms (Ryzen + X570) will most likely have to be content with a slightly lower frequency — up to 3866 MHz, which, however, is also very worthy.
