The tool has a planing width of 82 mm. The planing depth of the Makita KP0810K plane is adjusted in the range from zero to 4 mm using a rotary handle, which has a scale with a step of 0.1 mm and a clear fixation in each position.
The design of the drum allows the use of double-sided carbide knives (installed on the tool) or single-sided blades subject to resharpening, which are sold separately as accessories, as cutting equipment.
