It features two oscillators for sound generation, with Oscillator 1 offering seven unique algorithms, including human voice formant waveforms and vintage keyboard PCM/DWGS waveforms. Techniques such as cross modulation, unison, and VPM (Variable Phase Modulation) are at your fingertips, and when combined with Oscillator 2's modulation capabilities, the possibilities for creating complex sounds are endless.The 16-band vocoder filter bank not only recreates the sounds of yesteryears but also allows for dramatic sound character changes through filter frequency shifting (Format Shift) and individual band level and pan adjustments. A gooseneck microphone is included for immediate vocoding action.Rounding off the MicroKorg XL+'s impressive features are two master effects, borrowed from Korg's renowned Kaoss Pad series. With 17 types including delay, echo, ring modulator, and grain shifter, these effects can be synchronized to MIDI clock, adding a final layer of polish to your sound creations.
