A simple machine for working at home and in the workshop
The Jet JWBS-9X is easy to operate (although it needs to be adjusted after unpacking) and low maintenance. In terms of cleanliness and accuracy of the cut, it, of course, is inferior to electric jigsaws, and in terms of performance — to stationary circular saws, being something in between.
Small and curved detail specialist
The best way to use this saw is to cut boards, sticks and plywood sheets into crafts, souvenirs and small parts for larger products. However, the dimensions of the table made of fierce aluminium (300x300 mm) are not particularly suitable for processing large boards anyway. Workpieces up to 230 mm wide are placed on it (this is equal to the distance from the saw to the frame), and the maximum thickness of the processed lumber is 80 mm. Work with small products is facilitated by a light bulb that illuminates the work area.
The machine cuts hard and soft wood well along, across the grain and at an angle. But it is especially good when making curved cuts. The machine can cut curves with a small radius due to the small width of the files (suitable toothed bands with a width of 3 to 10 mm). However the tape size is not the most popular (1575 mm). Although files that fit this saw are produced even by cutting tool leaders such as Bahco, they are not very common on the market.
Assistant anywhere
The inexpensive Jet JWBS-9X saw can be considered as the main machine in a small home workshop, or as an auxiliary equipment for a small private joinery business. It could be the first piece in your future collection of Jet saws, a piece of equipment that is of decent quality and well within the reach of most woodworking enthusiasts.
The Jet saw also has a Japanese "brother" — the Ryobi RBS-904 band saw. They have identical dimensions and the same design. The difference is that Ryobi is quieter, but also more expensive.
