Phase inverter to the floor
Sub 210 from the well-known Danish manufacturer Jamo does not belong to any specific line of acoustics and will fit equally well into a home theater from Jamo, as well as from any other brand. The model has a large power reserve (200 W) with relatively modest dimensions of the case and speaker (only 8"). This allows it to sound smooth and without distortion at almost any volume. The driver itself works in a bass-reflex acoustic design, which is directed directly to the floor. As planned by the manufacturer, such an unusual arrangement increases the sound pressure level and gives better bass tolerance.
Flexible settings
The subic itself looks extremely ascetic: in fact, it is a black box with a small logo and a minimum of identification marks. Much more interesting look white colours and a wood effect option. The glossy surface is scratch resistant, but picks up fingerprints quickly. Fortunately, this is not a smartphone and you do not have to constantly pick it up. All controls are hidden on the rear panel. In addition to the standard level and cutoff frequency adjustments, it is worth noting the possibility of a smooth phase change, which is necessary for precise matching of the woofer with the satellites. To save energy, an automatic switch-on mode is provided on the input signal.
Accentuated and dynamic bass
Now how does it all sound. Of the obvious advantages, we note excellent accentuation, dynamics and a good depth of the lower register for such sizes. It holds a punch well and clearly displays the structure of most low-frequency effects. That is, the explosion of a helicopter at low frequencies is fundamentally different from a shot from a laser gun. This is not the same hum as on low-cost subwoofers. When playing music rich in low frequencies, the bottom sometimes seems too booming and “big”, covering a part of the spectrum of the lower middle. Although, he plays jazz and other "light" music very confidently. Therefore, the most optimal option seems to be the use of Jamo Sub 210 in a fairly narrow frequency band in a home theater.
