Before making a purchase, I asked myself: What should a home air conditioner be able to do? Obviously, it should perform its main tasks well - cooling and heating. But besides that, it would be nice to have good vertical and horizontal louver angles, a humidity control function, decent filters, and a timer. Not all these features are mandatory, but having them would significantly increase comfort. Also, the price plays an important role in the decision. With these considerations in mind, I chose the IDEA ISR-12HR-BN1 air conditioner made by the well-known Chinese company Midea. Cools great, especially in Turbo mode. Even in intense heat, the desired temperature in the room is set in 20-25 minutes. To reduce noise (as the indoor unit isn't completely silent), you can manually select four fan speed settings. The angle of the vertical louvers is sufficient to deflect the airflow so you don't end up in a "cold draft". The filters are easy to remove and clean with a vacuum cleaner. The timer function with built-in clock came in handy. The air conditioner turns on automatically half an hour before the usual time of returning home from work. These 30 minutes are just enough to create a comfortable temperature. Plus, this model is inexpensive, and I think almost any family can afford it. Horizontal blinds can only be adjusted manually and only when the air conditioner is turned off. The outdoor unit is quite noisy. Fortunately, there was an opportunity to install it on the solid, end wall of the house. Otherwise, there would have been every chance to ruin relations with neighbors who sleep with open windows. At night, the indoor unit can only be left on the lowest fan speed. It will still be audible, but not loudly, and its noise won't disturb sleep. |
