HTC is well known as the author of a number of successful designs of smartphones and communicators for Windows Mobile, sold under the trademarks of well-known vendors and mobile operators, as well as i-Mate or Qtek.ccc However, the Qtek trademark is actually owned by HTC and the company decided that it's time to "come out of the shadows": the Qtek brand will go into oblivion, and new items will be sold under HTC's own brand.

The first device released under the new HTC brand is the third-generation TyTN communicator.
