What characteristics should good headphones have?Guide to key features of headphones
Model overview based on user reviews
The Google Pixel Buds 2 offer a sleek design and high-quality materials, providing a comfortable fit and impressive sound quality. They feature gesture control and Google Fast Pair, enhancing user convenience. The microphone performance is notable, especially during calls, and the headphones provide passive noise isolation. However, users have reported issues such as uneven battery discharge, low volume reserve, and problems with the headphones shutting off in cold weather. Initial firmware had several defects, but updates have improved stability and connection. Despite these improvements, the high price remains a concern, especially considering the initial release issues. Overall, while the Pixel Buds 2 have potential, they may not justify their cost unless purchased at a discounted price.

Very ambiguous headphones. Analogue of AirPods for Android world
26 May 2021
I have already used 2 pairs of these headphones. The first couple had their charging case killed by cheap Chinese wireless charging. I charged it a couple of times, but it turned out that the case was getting wildly hot and went into temperature protection every 2 minutes. As a result, 5 full charges killed 2 thirds of the case's battery capacity. So be careful with wireless chargers. When purchasing the second set, the right earphone was dead out of the box. As a result, I exchanged it with the seller. In operation, they leave a very ambiguous impression. In the early stages there were a lot of defects and the firmware up to the 500x series was all terrible: the connection stability was poor, there was extraneous noise, the headphones lost each other and other problems, but with the release of the 500x firmware in January 2021, everything was fixed. The connection is stable, there are no breaks. The sound quality is decent. There are some smart features like BassBoost and Adaptive Volume. The biggest complaint is the price. If you take these headphones for $129 on sale in the USA, then this is quite normal, but the 17-18 thousand for which they are sold here are not definitely worth it.
* Sound quality
* Comfort of ear fit
* Gesture control. All functions available on any earphone
* Google Fast Pair built into OS
* Battery life
* Passive noise isolation
* Very impressive microphone performance during calls
* Very impressive materials. Tactile feel is simply outstanding. They complement the Pixel 4 very well
* Google decided to make all buyers beta testers of their technology for the first six months. It's a disgrace on their part to release such a raw model.
* The price is ridiculously high
* Uneven discharge of the headphones
* A lot of defects

I am a fan of Google products, but these headphones can hardly even be called a product.

The appearance is pleasant, the headphones fit well in the ears, and there is a standard set of two pairs of different-sized ear tips included. Gestures work wonderfully, no false touches, they read swipes perfectly, sensors do not activate when not needed, for example, when adjusting the headphones. The case is very nice, small, the lid is very well made, I constantly open it with flicks, so far no wobble or looseness. It charges and is charged quickly, the charge indicators look stylish. The headphones sound good, as for a standard headset. An acceptable battery life.

That's about it for the pros, now let's get to the cons: the volume reserve is simply negligible, the first 3 lower volume steps the headphones almost completely silent. The AAC codec causes crackling when nothing is playing. Outdoors at temperatures of 5°C and below, the headphones just shut off, first one, then the other. They won't turn back on until you warm them up at home. The issue disappeared with the arrival of warm spring. I suffered from random shutoffs for a month, but with the arrival of a new firmware update, everything got sorted. Once the connection with devices dropped so badly that I had to reset to factory settings. During calls, it's better to use both earphones because the noise cancellation on the microphones with one headphone doesn't work, the interlocutor hears poorly until you plug in the second one. When opening the case, the battery charge notification comes randomly, sometimes after 5 seconds, sometimes after 5 minutes (Pixel 3). To find out the charge of the case, you need to take out one earphone and leave the other inside.
Design;
Materials;
Build quality;
Control;
Sound 4/5;
Convenient app;
Strong magnets hold well with small and medium ear tips.
Power off in cold weather;
Volume reserve is terribly low;
Slow response to gestures;
The uneven discharge of the headphones is off the charts. (One may be at 61%, the other at 29%, even though you use them equally. Next time they might switch, with the second one at 70% and the first at 40%);
With large ear pads, the headphones do not fit into their slots. (The magnet doesn't reach because the rubbers hit the case, you have to press them in);
In sunlight, the charge indicators on the case are not visible. And here the previous problem can combine with this one, in the sunlight you insert the headphones into the case, don't see if they have properly connected, and accordingly, they do not turn off Bluetooth, continue playing and discharging, plus you do not receive notifications, as they beep in the headphones.
