Video reviews

The American brand Garrett has been known in the production of metal detectors for over half a century. The flagship of the ACE series with the numerical index 400i is one of the best-selling models for both beginners and experienced treasure hunters.

hard knocked down

The first weighty argument in favor of the device is a tightly knit design. The absence of the slightest backlash in it is achieved thanks to the rod borrowed from the older AT Pro line with scurvy clamps and latches. Moreover, the weight of the metal detector in the equipped state barely exceeds 1.32 kg, which, coupled with a comfortable grip in the hand, contributes to long-term searches for treasures without getting tired until they are completed.

Dig, so on business!

The Garrett ACE 400i uses a 10 kHz frequency and has five auto-discrimination programs: Coins, Relics, Jewelry, Custom and All Metals. And the crown "trick" of the model is the ability to show the digital value of the metal (VDI), so as not to dig in vain. The detector determines the degree of conductivity of the metal in the ground, compares it with data on volume and size, as a result, a numerical code is displayed on the screen. It describes the belonging of deposits to a certain category of valuables (or trinkets), which allows you to cut off unwanted items at the search stage.

Additional assets

In the additional assets of the "treasure seeker" there is a three-tone sound response, by which it is possible to determine the nature of the values by ear. The only “but” is the unregulated volume of the beeps. Finally, a 12-segment discrimination scale adds convenience in handling the metal detector. Accurately half of the segments are sharpened for the detection of ferrous metal objects.

Leadership skills

Feedback on the model is dominated by positive judgments. However, everyone knows a massive problem with displays — in many instances of the detector, the screens fail after 4-6 months of active operation. Usually the manufacturer solves it at his own expense. If you look at the big picture, then Garrett ACE 400i is the leader in the mid-low-cost segment of metal detectors, with which you can find almost everything.
