I faced the decision of choosing a new receiver in the price range of $600-700. The main priority was, of course, sound quality, ease of setup, and certainly support for all modern formats. I was choosing between the AVR-X2500H and the AVR-X1500H, and I settled on the AVR-X1500H. What I liked was the support for Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and DTS Virtual:X, the ability to connect a smartphone using AirPlay or Bluetooth. The receiver is equipped with an acoustic measurement microphone and the Audyssey MultEQ XT program for sound tuning based on the acoustics used and the room's acoustic properties. Of course, there's full support for 4K, UHD, Dolby Vision, HDR (High Dynamic Range), HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma), and BT.2020. I should note the excellent, very clear sound quality both when watching movies and listening to music. In my opinion, it's a great solution for its money and definitely recommended for purchase. p.s. why the 1500 and not the 2500, in short, the 2500 model has a built-in DAC and more inputs, which is absolutely unimportant to me. The number of inputs in the X1500 satisfies me more than enough, and there's an external DAC, while in terms of sound quality, the AVR-X2500H and AVR-X1500H have approximately parity.
