Corsair Now Makes Monitors Too
Thanks to the active promotion of LG Displays, the choice of OLED monitors has significantly expanded in 2023. Among the manufacturers that released their OLED solutions, the American brand Corsair unexpectedly appeared, which presented its line of XENEON gaming monitors. The XENEON 27QHD240 model stands out as one of the key ones in this series, being a top 27-inch monitor on which it is pleasant to work, play your favorite games or re-watch movies with HDR, discovering new details.
Top-of-the-line OLED display with 240Hz refresh rate
The Corsair XENEON 27QHD240 is based on a high-quality 10-bit OLED matrix from LG with a Quad HD resolution, an impressive refresh rate of 240 Hz and virtually no input lag (GtG pixel response time up to 0.03 ms). The monitor also offers infinite contrast and perfect color reproduction (100% Adobe RGB, 99% DCI-P3). One of the features of the model is a semi-matte screen, which completely eliminates glare - this is rare among OLED monitors. Additional features include FreeSync Premium / G-Sync support, an extended hub with four USB ports (including one USB C with fast charging and video transfer support), an ergonomic stand and a modern set of video ports, including two HDMI 2.1 and one DisplayPort 1.4.
There may be problems with brightness
However, despite its excellent specifications, the XENEON 27QHD240 has its drawbacks. The main problem is limited brightness - even with HDR activated, the peak brightness reaches 800 nits in a small area and only 150 nits at 100% screen coverage, and the ABL (Automatic Brightness Limiter) mode adapts brightness too aggressively compared to competitors. Corsair promises that the new firmware of the monitor will repurpose the ABL mode and increase brightness by 33%, but for now we have what we have. Another point is the price: at the moment, with similar characteristics, the Corsair monitor will cost 10-15% more than the AOC AGON AG276QZD and Acer Predator X27, which also use OLED matrices from LG.
