Now I understand that it would be worth paying extra for double-sided printing and print speed.

For this price, I'd like it to print faster. Overall, it's a decent printer if you don't need to print a lot. Great photo print quality and ink efficiency. The main advantage is the wireless connection, you can connect directly from your phone. Plus, it has a scanner.
Photo print quality, economical ink usage, it can be refilled when it runs out, no need to constantly buy new cartridges; wireless connection, scanner.
It's slow in my opinion when printing; low-quality color printing on regular paper; sometimes fails to feed paper correctly; sometimes takes a long time to start printing; lacks duplex printing.
