The thinnest and lightest ultrabook on the market
The first thing you notice when looking at the Asus ZenBook S is its size. Almost all manufacturers today are trying to make it thinner, lighter, but Asus turned out something from the category of fantasy — the thickness of the case is only 12.9 mm and weighs 1 kg. For comparison, even the lightest and thinnest ultrabooks weigh under 1.3 kg with a case thickness of 15 – 16 mm.
Almost gaming hardware
With all the limitations of the case, ZenBook S delivers top-end performance: an eighth-generation Core i7 chip, 16 GB of RAM, an integrated Intel HD 620 video chip standard for ultrabooks, and a capacious and fast 512 GB NVMe SSD. Add a GeForce 1060 caliber graphics card to this bundle and you have the ultimate gaming laptop. Although, to do this in fact, of course, will not work — there is simply no place for it in the case. Therefore, the built-in Intel HD 620 video chip, traditional for ultrabooks, is installed here.
Comfort above all
At the same time, the priority of the engineers was by no means power, but ease of use. So the laptop uses a cunning ErgoLift hinge, which, when the lid is opened, automatically lifts the upper half of the laptop and tilts the screen at a comfortable angle for the user. Thanks to this unusual design, the hands rest comfortably on the keyboard, and the cooling system dissipates excess heat without any problems, which is why the laptop practically does not heat up.
Convenience in everything
Other amenities include a glass-covered touchpad with support for gesture control, a comfortable keyboard with large keys and a full-fledged functional block, a responsive fingerprint scanner and a pair of fairly loud and high-quality speakers from Harman Kardon. The icing on the cake is a battery with USB-C support, fast charging and a maximum runtime of 13.5 hours.
USB-C with Thunderbolt support
One could scold the laptop peripherals, consisting exclusively of USB-C ports. After all, a bunch of regular USB and USB-C is much more practical. However, unlike Apple, Asus comes with a separate adapter with HDMI, regular USB and additional USB-C. Throw in Thunderbolt support and there will be nothing to complain about.
