Spectacular appearance and excellent ergonomics

In 2017, Asus updated its flagship gaming mouse. Unlike the first generation ROG Gladius, the model received RGB backlighting along the contour of the case. Various glowing effects are provided in addition to constant work: activation by click, smooth colour change, various flickering scenarios. For each of the illumination zones (contour, wheel and logo), you can set your own option.

Gladius II has a plastic top and rubberized sidewalls with an embossed pattern. It fits comfortably in the right hand of a medium size, does not slip during the fast movements required in games. Only soiledness can be considered a minus, because both plastic and cracks in rubber “collect” dirt well.

Increased working resource

The "heart" of the Asus ROG Gladius II is the PixArt 3360 optical sensor with a resolution of up to 12000 DPI. It's accurate and fast, and impossible to rip, making it one of the best available on the market.

The model has 6 programmable buttons (excluding the scroll wheel). The two main ones on the “back” of the mouse are complemented by a sensor sensitivity switch key. And on the left side, to the traditional pair of additional buttons below, another one has been added — by default, it allows you to temporarily reduce DPI. For example, in shooters, this will allow you to more accurately aim when shooting. However you need to get used to its location.

In the ROG Armory proprietary utility, you can reassign the functionality of the buttons, adjust the speed of the sensor, and set different usage scenarios for three profiles.

Main key switches rated for a record 50 million keystrokes (Omron product, model D2FC-FK). The user himself can easily replace them without voiding the warranty. On the bottom, under special plugs, there are screws, by unscrewing which you can get the board and put other switches. The package already comes with an additional pair with a resource of 1 million clicks.

Convenient to take with you

A nice feature of the mouse is the detachable cable. Moreover, two wires are included in the kit at once: a 2-metre one in a fabric braid and a metre-long, rubberized one (for connecting to a laptop). Both are lightweight, flexible and soft. Also included in the basic package is a small carrying case, which will allow the gamer not to part with his gaming “assistant” outside the home.

Asus ROG Gladius II is a direct competitor to the Logitech G403 Prodigy, having a more interesting appearance (due to contour lighting) and the ability to quickly change switches. And the need to pay extra for it looks quite reasonable.
