Video reviews

Products under the sign of the eminent Alpine brand have ruled the ball in the major league of car audio systems for several years in a row. Let's take, for example, the iLX-702D media receiver, under the wing of which it is possible to build a developed multimedia network with unified control of on-board systems by touching on the touch screen of the head unit.

Large format in a compact bottle

The radio tape recorder closely “cooperates” with the standard auto climate control units, as well as all-round cameras, visualizing a whole galaxy of various adjustments on a large-format screen. The display of the model stretched diagonally exactly 7", and to make it easier to handle while driving, adds a number of duplicating quick access buttons dispersed along the lower end of the front panel of the head unit. "Under the cover" of the screen is a "single-din" chassis, which contributes to a comfortable "landing" of the media receiver in the dashboard of such cars as the Volkswagen Golf 7, Skoda Octavia of the latest generations and others like them.

Deep integration

A special bet in the model is made on integration with mobile gadgets: Alpine iLX-702D brought support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto car systems. The practical benefit of their implementation was the ability to receive and make calls, manage the media library, navigate the area and voice control without being distracted once again by a smartphone. Fortunately, the menu interface of the head unit is famous for its friendliness.

Sound enjoyment

The car radio plays FLAC audio files, including with resolutions up to 192kHz/24bit, and also plays AVI, MP4 and MKV video with H.264 and MPEG-4 encoding. It seems possible to adjust the sound for each of the pair of channels separately, and the equalizer itself in the model's arsenal is a 9-band "parametric". Simply put, for each band, you can select the centre frequency and control bandwidth (narrow, medium, wide). In addition, a batch of preset sound presets Bass Engine SQ is kindly provided. The only deterrent from a momentary trip to the store for a media receiver is the immodest price tag of the model. However, the high cost is excusable due to the lack of equal depth of integration into regular on-board car systems.
