In the AEG range of electric jigsaws, the AEG STEP 100 is one of the most powerful tools. It is equipped with a high-speed 700-watt motor. The jigsaw has six speed modes (from 1000 to 3200 strokes / min) and four positions of the pendulum mechanism switch (one of them completely turns off the pendulum). Therefore, it is easily adjusted for the most efficient work with different materials, regardless of their thickness and density. This jigsaw can make deep cuts (up to 100 mm when working on wood) and gives a very smooth and clean cut without any effort on the part of the person who holds the tool in his hands. Despite the absence of any anti-vibration system, it almost does not shake even during intensive sawing at high speeds and with the most “aggressive” pendulum setting. Therefore, it does not lead to the side, and the edges of the processed material do not deteriorate when the master changes his grip or rearranges his hand. The only moment where attention and accuracy is required is when the engine is turned on. The jigsaw is quite “frisky” and perfectly “tears from the start”. With such power, a “soft start” would not hurt him, but this function is not here.

A small nuance associated with a small screw

This jigsaw has a simple blade locking mechanism. They are attached with a small screw that firmly clamps the blade shank and securely fixes it in place. But there is one caveat: the thread of this screw breaks quite easily if you apply a little more effort than required. Therefore, you need to act very carefully. And if you often rearrange the files during work, it makes sense to lay out a little more and buy the AEG STEP 100 X - exactly the same network electric jigsaw, but with a keyless blade replacement mechanism (as well as a plastic case and an anti-splinter pad on the sole).

All in all, the AEG STEP 100 has proven to be a reliable colleague for craftsmen working with wood and wood-based materials. It is well suited for working with large-format sheets (not least thanks to a long four-meter power cable), easily copes with materials of different structure and density (boards, plywood, chipboard, MDF, etc.), does not “lead” to the side, keeps the workplace clean (there is a sawdust blowing system and the ability to connect a vacuum cleaner) and does not cause problems at all (except for the flimsy screw fixing the files mentioned above). Therefore, this jigsaw will behave well in the hands of any master, regardless of his level of training and work experience.
