Acer Aspire Switch 10 [SW5-012-1209]

Acer Aspire Switch 10 is a direct descendant of netbooks. It has approximately the same dimensions, but has grown significantly in functionality and ease of management — it can be used both as a separate tablet and as a laptop.

Feature set

The “tablet + docking station” combination cannot be called a full-fledged laptop, since in terms of technical parameters it is on the lower levels of the laptop hierarchy. In addition, there is absolutely nothing useful in the keyboard unit of the device: no battery, no drive, only one USB 2.0 connector and that comes from the "last century". And anyway, as for a low-cost 10-inch device, the set of characteristics turned out to be worthy. The gadget is equipped with a 4-core processor Intel Atom Z3735F/Z3745 with a frequency of 1.8 GHz. The amount of RAM is 2 GB. You won’t be able to grab the stars from the sky, but just surfing the Internet, watching a video on YouTube or running a simple game is just that.

Screen

An IPS-matrix with a maximum resolution of 1366x768 pixels is responsible for the picture quality. Already familiar for this class of devices, it provides good viewing angles, produces a rich picture and has an adequate pixel density. When using the device as a tablet, the screen can recognize up to 5 simultaneous clicks. The display itself is made using OGS (One Glass Solution) technology. Such screens do not have an air gap, are less prone to stray glare and allow you to make the device thinner. The downside lies in the price tag — replacing a damaged screen will cost half the cost of the gadget.

Battery life and weight

The laptop processor practically does not heat up during operation, so we decided to neglect the cooling system. This made it possible to free up additional resources to increase the duration of work — on a single battery charge, the gadget can last about 8 hours (with heavy loads — up to 3 hours). Particularly pleased with the weight. The tablet itself weighs 585 g, and the entire structure paired with a docking station is about 1.1 kg.

Balance

A hybrid laptop with a stylish aluminium chassis and balanced hardware can become a faithful assistant at home, at work and on the road. Travelers should especially appreciate such a device — it is not always practical to carry a bulky classic laptop with you, unlike a compact 10-inch gadget.
