A family of 15-inch gaming laptops with moderately powerful hardware, top-end displays and advanced additional equipment (fast charging, Wi-Fi 6, Killer E2600 LAN controller, zone-backlit keyboard). For the first time in a long time, Acer decided to modernize the look of Nitro laptops familiar to many gamers, making the design less frilly and more refined. They turned out to be moderately thick and angular with a stylish keyboard and a neat air intake grille above the main keys.
Gamer nature is given out only by aggressive air intakes on the rear panel, inherited from old Nitro laptops. All models are united by the use of a really high-quality 15.6-inch IPS screen with reference color reproduction, a high margin of brightness, a fast matrix and an increased refresh rate. By 2022 standards, 144/165Hz is the gold standard for today's fast-paced games. Also, these are rare gaming laptops in which displays at the hardware level support NVIDIA G-Sync adaptive filtering and anti-aliasing technology.
The "iron" component of the Acer Nitro 5 AN515-46 is based on the 6th generation AMD Ryzen 5/7 processors with 6 or 8 cores and mandatory multithreading support. In conjunction with the processor, the RAM of the new DDR5 standard (capacity from 16 to 32 GB), a reactive SSD drive with (PCI-E 4.0 interface, capacity up to 1024 GB) and a 3rd generation NVIDIA RTX Ampere discrete graphics card (RTX 3050 Ti or RTX 3060) with dedicated cores for hardware ray tracing and DLSS supersampling technology. As a result, Nitro 5 laptops are able to run demanding gaming blockbusters of recent years without any problems and enjoy high frame rates in them even at high graphics settings. Thus, these far from the cheapest laptops are able to interest very demanding gamers who are planning to upgrade an old laptop or find a mobile replacement for a stationary PC.
