The Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G is the laptop with the most powerful graphics card under $500 (GeForce MX150). And it would seem that this is gaming happiness, but no — the low-frequency processor Core i3-6006U 2.0 GHz. And if for the GeForce MX130 its performance is just right, then paired with the MX150 in processor-dependent games (primarily multiplayer shooters CSGO and PUBG) it becomes a "narrow bottleneck".
In the name of Pascal
The GeForce MX150 is the youngest graphics card based on the latest NVIDIA Pascal architecture (the desktop counterpart is called the GT 1030). In games, it is about one and a half times more powerful than the MX130 (it even pulls Assassin's Creed Origins and Far Cry 5), and 10 percent weaker than the competing Radeon RX 540 of the Polaris architecture. It has NVENC technology disabled, so if you need a laptop for super-heavy video editing, take at least the GeForce GTX 1050.
Shine of metal
The body of the Aspire 5 A515-51G is half metal, half plastic. The top cover and palm area around the keyboard are made of metal, and everything else is made of plastic. As a result, the Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G is not a perfectly balanced, but still a gaming laptop with a surprisingly long battery life (up to 7 hours of web surfing, competitors have less than 5 hours).
