Drill chuck: types and differencesSpecifics of different types of chucks for drilling and working with fasteners

Which is better: drill, screwdriver or drill-driver?We study the design features and specifics of the use of such similar, but still different types of power tools
Model overview based on user reviews
The Zenit ZShA-12 M Li is a low-cost drill-driver that is well-suited for light tasks such as furniture assembly and minor home repairs. It features a two-speed gearbox with a maximum rotation speed of 1350 rpm, making it capable of drilling wood and even steel with some effort. Users appreciate its lightweight design and anatomically shaped handle, which make it comfortable to use. The tool comes with two batteries and a storage case, adding to its convenience. However, some drawbacks include a quickly draining battery, a plastic casing that scratches easily, and a slightly unbalanced chuck. The charger also tends to get warm during use. While it is not on par with brands like Makita or Bosch, it is a practical choice for budget-conscious users seeking a tool for simple, everyday tasks.
Pros
Cons
Of course, if we talk about professional use, then I would buy something more expensive. But since the task for this screwdriver was somewhat different, you can not spend too much money. My family and I moved, so it was necessary to transport the kitchen and the rest of the furniture, that is, to twist a huge number of fasteners. And then another cosmetic repair in a new place to do ... in short, there was work for a screwdriver, but obviously not such that Bosch or Makita was spent. Pretty good low-cost screwdriver. With the task that was put before him first of all, namely with the disassembly and assembly of furniture, he coped perfectly. It is difficult to even imagine how much he saved strength and nerves. At home, too, helps at every opportunity. He made an arch and a plasterboard partition, landscaped the pantry in the elevator shaft. I had to turn screws and self-tapping screws, I coped confidently. At the second speed, the one that spins the self-tightening chuck up to 1300 rpm, it can work quite successfully with a drill. Wood drills easily, a steel corner is a little more difficult, but makes 5-6 mm holes quite confidently. There is an engine brake and a weak, but still useful backlight. It weighs 1100 gr., thanks to the anatomically shaped handle, it is easy and convenient to work with it. There is a one year warranty. The charger gets warm while charging. The Chinese once again saved on good components. However, it charges the batteries normally. The cartridge is slightly unbalanced, but nothing serious either. They amused the pseudo-metal gearbox housing. The Chinese made it out of plastic, but painted it with silver paint, so in the photographs and in appearance it may seem that it is aluminium)) |
I bought it in 2018 for the auto repair shop, for simple tasks. Drilling plastic here, cleaning with a metal brush there. Then I used it to renovate the kitchen at the cottage. It handles its tasks. So, you shouldn't expect it to be on the level of Makita or DeWalt, or even Bosch. No, it's a completely different level. The quality is so-so, the body is entirely made of plastic, quite soft plastic, and it scratches very easily. I have a Soviet drill, and while it's worn, it has no deep scratches; this one, however, got a bunch around the chuck in just the first year. The chuck itself has minor centering issues, but that might be important for someone. The batteries are quite weak, and now they have degraded significantly; its charge lasts about ten minutes of work. I don't even know whether to look for new batteries, sort through the old ones, or maybe just go crazy and get myself a decent branded screwdriver. It charges relatively quickly, but as mentioned here, the charger gets very hot. There are two working modes, drilling and screwing. I liked that the set comes with a convenient case that holds the entire set, as well as a set of bits for the screwdriver. If you're looking for something inexpensive for light tasks, this Zenit will suit you, but it's still better to add some money and get a more powerful option. Low price, I bought it in 2018 for 1100 UAH, and it is still relatively inexpensive now. Storage case. Two batteries. There is area lighting. The battery drains quickly The plastic casing is cheap The chuck alignment is imperfect. |
The Zenit ZShA-12 M Li screwdriver has been with me for a while, and generally, it's a typical home tool: not super powerful, but it handles most household tasks well enough. When you need to assemble something at home—a bookshelf, a cabinet, or a child’s table—it gets the job done and drives screws in without much effort. There are a few points you'll notice right away. The chuck is slightly uneven, and sometimes you need to adjust to keep the bit straight. Plus, the battery discharges fairly quickly—sometimes you don't even finish before needing to recharge. It's not critical, but if you're planning a longer job, it’s wise to have a charged spare battery (which is included) or take breaks. Honestly, now I would choose something a bit more professional, even for home use. Something around 18-20V, like Makita, DeWalt, or Milwaukee—they're more powerful, the battery lasts longer, and overall they're nicer to work with. Or at least something with a universal battery platform, so you can use one battery for different tools. The Zenit ZShA-12 M Li—it works, but it doesn't impress. It's perfectly suitable for occasional home jobs, but when you want "more power and longer battery life," it's better to pay a bit extra and get something more serious. Cheap Weak battery, low power, cartridge misfire. |
