The device's appearance is somewhat cartoonish, especially in the multicolored version, so you immediately want to “dress” the gadget in a protective case or box, which can be purchased separately.
But even without additional accessories, there’s no need to worry about the camera’s safety, as appearances can be deceiving, and the seemingly fragile casing is quite wear-resistant. With somewhat plain organized controls: absence of a screen, a power button (which also switches modes from photo to video), Wi-Fi, and a record button are not particularly finicky in use. Slightly disconcerting is the unsecured cover behind which micro SD (up to 128 GB), USB, and micro HDMI ports are hidden, increasing the likelihood of losing it.

The quality of photos and videos shot on the Xiaomi Yi is impressive and can compete with more expensive segment representatives: a 16-megapixel Sony sensor provides excellent Full HD video (1080p 60 fps) and photos with a resolution of 4608x3456 pixels. Unfortunately, 4K video cannot be shot, and there is no night shooting mode or image stabilization, but the device boasts stereo sound recording (in two channels) and the ability to locate the camera via an app.
By the way, the app is the main control center for the device. Here you can find all the necessary information about the camera and set additional settings: set a timer for photos, enable TimeLapse mode, assess battery and connection quality. It also allows you to adjust the frame rate.
It is worth noting that early versions of the app had many flaws and were oriented towards the Chinese consumer, but regularly released updates have significantly improved the situation.
