Portable speakers are the kind of gadgets where designers can go wild. Urbanears was also creative – in 2019 they released the stylish Ralis model in the form of a compact handbag with a comfortable handle.

On style: disguise as a familiar accessory

In addition to looking like a handbag, Urbanears Ralis resembles a guitar combo amp. The front and rear panels are designed in the form of grills, and at the back there is a hole at the bottom that looks like a bass reflex port. The speaker claims a very conditional IPX2 water protection, that is, it is not afraid of a humid environment, but it’s better not to get caught in the rain.

There are 4 colours to choose from, black, burgundy, grey and blue. Also, the front grille can be chrome-plated, gold or bronze. In general, everything is very stylish and beautiful.

More than one design: a speaker with quality sound

It often happens that models with creative design do not have high sound quality. However, not in the case of Ralis. Measuring just 20cm x 14cm x 18cm, this 3kg baby packs two 5W speakers and one 10W woofer. At the same time, the special arrangement of the speakers made it possible to achieve sound distribution over all 360 degrees. So you don't have to think about how to place the speaker in a better way. I also like the battery life of the device. The speakers last for 20 hours of playback, and it charges in just 2. In addition, the battery can also be used as a power bank.

But the variety of connectors Ralis will not please. There is only AUX here, and USB can only be used to charge other devices. The speaker itself is charged from a 230 V network. But Bluetooth 5.0 will provide stable pairing within a radius of 10 m without breaks, and the MultiHost (TWS) function will connect in stereo pair mode.

Overall, the Urbanears Ralis makes a good impression and encourages purchase, although it comes at a hefty price tag of almost $200.
