That's why when I started my small clothing business last year and needed a steamer for outerwear and more, I chose a model from this very brand. The clothing I sell is significantly more expensive than the average mass-market product, so it needs to look impeccable. Steaming is one of the most convenient methods for pre-sale conditioning of clothes. After all, steam not only smooths out fabric wrinkles but also refreshes the fabric and removes the smell of stale textiles. After quality steaming, garments not only look good but also smell entirely different. This device is a great help to me. It is thoughtfully designed, and I can only call the vertical ironing board idea brilliant. It's simple and convenient to use. There are five steam settings for different types of fabrics, meaning the power can be adjusted from a gentle flow to rather strong steam jets. It heats up quickly and is ready for use in less than a minute. It can work not only with purified water but also with regular tap water. You just need to clean the evaporator from the scale, ensuring nothing gets on the fabric. The water supply seems decent, but at maximum power, it runs out too quickly. I'm not very good with delicate fabrics yet, but that's just because I lack enough practice. No worries, I'll gain experience and everything will be great. |
Tefal, not choosing it, means you don't respect yourself. I give this slogan to the manufacturer. Beautiful red color... Like a Ferrari. That's where the similarities end. So do the advantages. It's a shame that the description of the drawbacks is limited to a maximum of 1500 characters, otherwise we could have seen the second edition of "War and Peace" with a description of the flaws of this miracle of German thought and Chinese workmanship, which were assembled in the most bewildering manner. Firstly, if you're expecting it to produce as much steam as Vesuvius, I'm sorry to disappoint you. It releases steam whimsically. Sometimes it gently puffs, other times it goes completely silent. I couldn't figure out whether it's gathering strength or just in no hurry to justify the 10,000 rubles I parted with in the store. After unpacking, I switched on this... well, miracle, preheated it as per the instructions, took out my best shirt, and prepared to witness the magic. Alas, there was no magic. I spent 5 minutes steaming a 10x10 cm section of the shirt. In that time, I could have ironed two shirts with a regular iron. By minute six, my patience ran out, and I was tempted to throw it out of the 13th floor window, but the memory of the 10,000 rubles I spent cooled my fervor. The conclusion is simple - don't buy this contraption. If you're eager to try, buy the cheapest steamer for 1,000 rubles. I assure you - the effect will be the same. Don't repeat others' mistakes - "I'll buy an expensive steamer, it'll surely be better than my old Chinese one for 300 rubles." It won't! It's not worth it, not worth it! It takes up as much space as a vacuum cleaner, consumes 2 kilowatts of energy, good luck getting steam out of it, performance is at the level of models for 1,000 rubles. Vertical support system
The vertical steamer of a well-known French manufacturer represents the Instant Control series and is considered the top solution among household models. More advanced and functional devices, like the Tefal Expert Precision IT 9501, already belong to professional lines.
But, like the older, more expensive brother, Tefal IS 8380 has acquired a patented Roll & Press vertical support system. In fact, this is a stretch ironing board fixed on the steamer stand. It keeps clothes in place during steaming and makes ironing faster and easier.
In addition to the vertical ironing board, the device will please you with a good set of delivery with a hanger, a mitten to protect your hands, attachments for fabric, creating arrows and collecting wool, hair or threads.
Convenient adjustments
The model received a 1700-watt heating element. It gives out up to 35 grams of steam per minute, generating it already 45 seconds after switching on. Intensity and temperature allows you to control the power regulator. For convenience, it is placed on the handle and allows you to choose from 5 steam supply settings from weak (for delicate products) to maximum (for caring for clothes made of coarse and thick fabrics).
On the body of Tefal IS 8380 there is a power button, as well as indicators for an empty water tank (holds 1.7 liters) and steam readiness.
Anti-calc system
The device is not only equipped with a drain hole for descaling, but it will also tell you when you need to carry out the appropriate procedure. The control panel has an Anti-calc indicator that starts flashing when it is necessary to drain the water and rinse the water inlet.
Additional stability Tefal IS 8380 provide two retractable legs. The handle on the body allows you to carry the device, but even its presence does not negate the fact that the steamer is very heavy (6.3 kg) and requires a lot of storage space (dimensions are larger than those of analogues: 35x32x40 cm). If this is not a critical moment for you, then the model is definitely worth considering for purchase, at least due to the presence of a vertical ironing board and convenient controls.
And it gets more interesting. Just as the warranty expired, this little [expletive] started leaking!!!!! The service center is 50 km away and naturally, they don't work on weekends. With the warranty expired, I figured they’d probably just "send me home," so I decided to check out what happened. Luckily, I do tech repairs myself. I opened it up. Photos are attached. Water ATE THROUGH! The heating element! It looked like acid dissolved it! I have no idea what material they used to make it. But it seems designed to last only as long as the warranty. I reached out to the Official Representation. After a brief correspondence, here's their reply. I quote -- “We are sorry to hear about the issues you've faced with your product. Despite the warranty expiration, we would have been willing to assist you and repair the device under warranty. However, any self-modification by the owner of the product's design or any repair done outside of our authorized service centers voids the warranty (this is mentioned in our warranty conditions). We recommend you contact our authorized service center for the necessary part replacements, but unfortunately, only on a paid basis.” -- THAT'S HOW IT IS!
