So, colleagues and comrades, I decided to buy Reveal 402 after using the legend of amateur sound engineering: microlab speakers)) What can I say? The first impression is shock and delight. Why didn't I do this before?! I felt like I had taken off my cloudy, dark, broken glasses and finally began to see! And with all this, these are the smallest and most inexpensive monitors in the Tannoy range! For a room of 15 m2 - for the eyes!!! I work at a volume of 20%-30%. Very sensitive. The sound picture is amazing! Basa sea! An interesting point: we all know about the nonlinear characteristics of amplifiers... Until you turn up the volume on the same microlab or other similar speakers, they simply don’t play! No bass, no pressure, no elasticity... These monitors have the opposite! Everything as needed from almost zero volume! Tannoy, bravo!!! Guys, this is a different level of work and perception, no matter what you do: mixing, video editing, composition, recording, mastering. Bass - it's an avalanche! It envelops and takes you away! That's what a quality amplifier and a great speaker in a properly calculated enclosure mean. And thank you for the stepped volume control! You can set one level on one monitor, and exactly the same on the other. Special isolating stands are a must. Otherwise, the energy goes into rocking the table, not the speaker. Like any product, there's a small downside to an otherwise great product... And here it is: the input on the speakers is either XLR or unbalanced TS jack. Why not have a balanced TRS jack input, allowing the user to decide whether to use TS (unbalanced) or TRS (since there is backward compatibility)? I believe this is a drawback. But if you have an advanced audio interface with XLR outputs, then you probably won't notice this drawback. Another solution: there are Jack TRS - XLR cables.
