Inexpensive universal controller from Sven
Despite being positioned as an inexpensive PC gamepad, the Sven GC-250 captivates with its versatility and the ability to make friends with the PlayStation 3 and an army of Android smartphones, tablets and TV boxes. In the first case, a 1.8-metre-long stock cable is used for connection, in the case of Android, an OTG adapter is required.
Child of DualShock and Xbox 360 Controller
In terms of design, the guys from Sven took a little bit from everywhere. The layout of the buttons and the overall design were borrowed from the DualShock gamepad: on the left there is a D-pad, on the right there are 4 main buttons, in the centre of a pair of sticks, on the ends there are 4 triggers. And rightly so, Microsoft outright lost the last round of the console war, so most gamers are used to Sony gamepads. At the same time, the trigger scheme was borrowed from the Xbox controller: classic horizontal “bumpers” on top, and vertical “triggers” on the bottom. And the angular design itself is shaped like the NVIDIA Shield mobile set-top box controller. On the back panel you can find the Directinput / XInput switch, which, when connected to a computer, puts the gamepad into Xbox controller mode.
Gamepad without weaknesses
In terms of design and usability, the GC-250 is very good, the buttons are crisp and responsive with just the right amount of resistance. In the hands it feels quite comfortable, although, in our opinion, more rounded edges like the DualShock would have been even more comfortable. Of the pluses, we highlight a couple of built-in vibration motors. Not only is this a rarity in gamepads of this level, they also work clearly, and not just vibrate randomly, as in cheap Chinese controllers from Aliexpress. In general, despite the outright cheapness, it is difficult to make any claims to the GC-250. And it’s hard to say something about the durability of this good, then time will tell.
