Electric saw for building a wooden house
The power of the Stanley FatMax FME360 electric saw is not particularly impressive. For a saw, 900 W is not so little, but there is nothing special to brag about. The fact is that this tool was developed for the needs of American carpenters and builders. Therefore, it is designed to work with those standard sizes of boards, beams, plywood and finishing materials that are used in overseas frame housing construction. On the other hand, a slight lack of power is compensated by a slightly increased frequency of strokes. At maximum speed (when the key is fully pressed), the saw blade can make up to 3200 strokes / min. The increased speed helps to cut materials like drywall boards neatly and cleanly, without leaving behind defects and chips. But it should be taken into account that at medium and high speeds the tool vibrates intensely (vibrations are the constant "companion" of reciprocating saws, that's how they are arranged, but in this model this feature appears a little "brighter" than we would like). Therefore, it is better to immediately buy work gloves with anti-vibration protection.
Replacement - no keys, selection - no problem
The tool is equipped with a mechanism for keyless blade replacement. As with many modern reciprocating saws, the blade can be inserted into the chuck with the teeth up or down, depending on how you guide the saw as you work. The manufacturer allows the use of files with a blade length of up to 305 mm, but at the same time emphasizes that the maximum sawing depth is limited to 275 mm. This tool accepts all L-shank blades, allowing you to purchase not only original Stanley accessories, but also tooling from other manufacturers.
