Sony® ICF-P27 AM-FM is a complete internal redesign utilizing digital signal processing (DSP) technology. One of the major achievements made possible by digital signal processing (DSP) is the inclusion of up to 5 bandwidths even in affordable AM radios... this was impossible just a few years ago. The ICF-P27 uses a wider bandwidth when there are no interferences for better clarity, and a narrower bandwidth when you need to block an interfering signal right next to the one you want to listen to. DSP has raised the bar for portable FM-AM reception. At the same time, as a true analog radio, the ICF-P27 tunes to the signal smoothly and pleasantly. Surpasses most pocket radios with better sensitivity and better selectivity. FM reception clearly captures and holds stations, similar to AFC. AM reception is extended from 530-1710kHz and begins broadcasting only in the evening and all night when long-distance radio wave propagation opens up. The real advantage of AM is that at night it can travel very long distances. Useful daytime AM service is usually limited to a radius of no more than 100-400 km, even for the most powerful stations. At night, it reaches 700-1000 km. LED battery status and precise tuning indication - does not dazzle or irritate. When you plug in stereo headphones, you will hear mono sound, but in both ears.
