Outdated Product
Oil from the Ultra series, developed, according to the manufacturer, for high-performance gasoline engines with direct injection, recirculation and catalysts; however, it can also be used in diesel engines. By type, it belongs to synthetic, intended for passenger cars. One of the features of the brand is the increased efficiency of cleaning deposits — thanks to the technology of active detergent additives. In addition, the oil has an extensive set of approvals from automakers — only 6, including BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Peugeot Citroen.

The Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 engine oil is highly regarded for its excellent performance in cold weather, ensuring smooth and quiet engine operation without burning out between oil changes. Users appreciate its remarkable price-quality ratio and compatibility with a wide range of vehicles, including petrol and diesel engines. While some users have noted a slightly higher viscosity in cold conditions compared to competitors, the oil's overall quality and effectiveness in preventing carbon deposits are praised. There was a Tiguan petrol 1.4, now the Caravella diesel 2.0, all cars are turbo. I only use this oil. There is no carbon deposits, no plaque, the level from replacement to replacement is 10 tons. Km.
High price

HYUNDAI TUCSON petrol 2.0 4WD manual. I use 6 years. On this machine, I have not used another one and there is no desire to experiment.
Excellent start in cold weather, does not burn out (I did not add oil from replacement to replacement), the engine runs smoothly, quietly, without extraneous noise. Remarkable price-quality ratio.

a model with serious flaws
28 March 2017
I've been using Shell 5w40 since 2007. Before that, I used Castrol semi-synthetic and was quite happy with it. Then something strange started happening with the oil. First, the container changed, and so did the content; it became more transparent and thinner, plus it started burning off more. Then there was an advertisement for a super-duper oil from Gazprom, which was poured into the same container, but at least they started sealing it. With this super-duper development, I noticed significant oil consumption. When I learned that the producer was Mother Russia and saw the changes in appearance and content, I realized I should have switched as soon as I saw the new container. Unfortunately, several years had passed, and it just so happened that it was time for a complete engine disassembly and assessment of its condition... and it was disappointing. The piston oil control rings were stuck, despite the super-duper washing oil, Shell fuel refills, and engine flushes during oil changes... Soot deposits looked like they were from cheap mineral oils, rather than super-duper synthetics...

P.S. Shell... GOODBYE
I liked it when it was shell and not rashell...
