For gaming, it's somewhat better than the built-in codec in your PC, but for music - it's awful.

I saved up for a long time to make the purchase, but unfortunately, the joy didn't last long. To start with, I was surprised by the very modest specs of the DAC with 24bit/96Khz and the ADC with 16bit/16Khz. I thought since it's Sennheiser, everything should be top-notch. As it turned out, the only good thing about them is the virtual 7.1 mode and a bunch of small features. The sound in the headphones is very mediocre; it's okay for gaming due to proprietary technologies, but for listening to music... Sadly, the sound from the microphone is even worse. (Even the built-in codec in my laptop sounds much better). I tested this using Sennheiser Game One and AKG K702 headphones.

I decided to take a look inside and was very surprised to see such a cheap codec CX20745 and a decoder, which doubles as an effects processor, CX20833 in such an expensive device. I am very disappointed with this purchase.

Poor quality sound for both the headphones and the microphone due to very cheap components. Dollar codecs in a device priced at 150-200 USD is overkill.
