On the top panel of the elongated Powercom WOW-1000U case, there are four Euro socket outlets lined up with protective shutters. One of them only filters voltage spikes in the power grid, while the other three also provide backup power to the load from the battery. On the side of the UPS, there are RJ-45 connectors for protecting telephone and network computer equipment from power surges, as well as a USB connector for computer connection.
The Magic Number "4"
It takes the UPS device about 4 ms to switch from network to internal battery power. When operating on a load of less than 30 W, the device automatically turns off after 4 minutes, which makes the "uninterruptible" UPS unsuitable for backup power to "low-demand" consumers like some surveillance cameras. Unfortunately, the GreenMode feature of this model is not disableable. However, this is the only flaw of the UPS amid an array of positive qualities.
