Outdated Product
A 3-in-1 combo device that combines the functions of a video recorder, a radar detector and a GPS informer in one person. Basically, shooting on PlayMe Alpha is carried out in high resolution up to 2304x1296 pixels at 30 fps. The key to getting a clear and detailed picture is the high-end Sony IMX307 matrix “under the hood” of the DVR. The field of view of the standard optics of the device is 140°, which allows capturing several lanes of the road in the frame. Optionally, a remote reversing camera can be connected to the recorder, but it is not included in the standard package of the model. The picture from it is displayed, if necessary, on the 3-inch screen of the head module. An important secondary role of the device is the detection of radars and police cameras of all common systems. In...formation about the detection of radars is voiced. Also, the model is equipped with a GPS-receiver — the car recorder stamps the video with the date, time and speed, fixes the route of the car, which can then be viewed on Google maps. As a backup power source, the brainchild of PlayMe uses a supercapacitor.

PlayMe Alpha is a DVR, GPS informer and radar detector in one compact bottle. The combo-device conducts continuous video recording of the traffic situation and warns the driver about approaching police speed control complexes.

High resolution video

Video is written to the device in a format up to Super HD — 2304x1296 pixels at 30 fps. High resolution increases the detail of the frame and allows you to clearly see the numbers of passing and oncoming cars, road signs, etc. The write cycle to the microSD card lasts 1, 3 or 5 minutes. The image processing here is occupied by the MSTAR 8339 processor, which "digests" the picture from the Sony IMX307 matrix. The viewing angle of the lens on board the DVR is about 140°.

radar detector

In radar detector mode, PlayMe Alpha detects radiation in the X, K, Ka, Laser and Strelka bands. Information about compliance with the speed limit and the distance to the radar complex is displayed on the display of the combo device, and is also duplicated by sound alerts. There are 4 operating modes of the radar part to choose from: "Route", "City 1", "City 2" and "Automatic IQ mode". False alarms were noticed behind the device only in the urban rhythm of traffic — the radar detector sometimes reacts to automatic sliding doors and car sensors.

GPS module

A GPS antenna is visible in the upper segment of the body of the car recorder. According to satellite data, the model stamps the video with the date, time and speed of the vehicle. In addition, the GPS module writes a trip track, which can then be viewed on Google maps. "Under the hood" of the device is a hardy supercapacitor. But what they regretted was the length of the complete wire for supplying power to the DVR — it is only 2 m, which causes problems of hidden installation of the device.
