HD digital film direct 24 standard
Pioneer has announced the adoption of the HD digital film direct 24 standard. Products that comply will carry a special logo indicating that the product accurately processes digitally captured movies shot at 24 frames per second, making it easier for consumers to choose products that provide a full, true HD experience. Classic films are typically shot, edited and copied for cinema release at 24 frames per second. Conventional PAL television broadcasts and DVDs display images at 25 frames per second (50 Hz). This results in the effect of speeding up the video and increasing the frequency of sound and speech. New high-definition discs, primarily Blu-ray, offer consumers access to digitally captured 'true to the original' copies of films. Pioneer introduces a range of products that are ideally suited to the task of transforming the home theater into the closest possible semblance of a real cinema: switching amplifiers, Blu-ray players and flat-screen TVs using Pioneer's proprietary technology for displaying a signal from a source at a frequency of 24 frames per second at an operating frequency of 72 Hz (for each original frame, 3 images are displayed on the screen). The HD digital film direct 24 logo makes it easy for consumers to identify products that reproduce the sound and image of a film exactly as it happens in a cinema, in full accordance with the director's intent.
