TV with Ambilight

The Philips TV, which received a white case, represents the 7 series and is one of the older models in the line. The main differences, for example, from the 50PUS7555 are thinner bezels around the 50-inch screen and the presence of the proprietary Ambilight backlight. Here it is three-sided: LEDs are located on the sides and top of the case, and their colour changes in accordance with what is happening on the screen, which is designed to enhance the immersive effect.

Modern matrix and processor

Philips 50PUS7855 is equipped with a 60Hz matrix with a resolution of 3840x2160 pixels. In addition to high detail, the user has the right to count on high-quality colour reproduction with natural colours. A uniform backlight will take care of a high level of contrast: the viewer has the right to count on a believable black colour and the absence of glare.

The viewing angles of the screen are moderate, as is the actual brightness, respectively, the gain in image quality when playing HDR content against the background of SDR is not the most impressive. But it is, and fans of high dynamic range video have an additional plus — support for all current standards, from HDR10 or HGL to Dolby Vision and HDR10+. Similar, for example, LG or Samsung TVs do not boast.

The P5 Perfect Picture processor should be able to handle SD video enhancement as well as smooth motion scenes (PPI boosts frame rates up to 1700 fps).

Convenient smart platform and management

The role of Smart TV in the model is assigned to the Saphi platform. It is convenient and understandable, quickly responds to any user commands, and is quite stable. The most popular multimedia services are also available here, but the choice of applications will not be enough for demanding users, especially against the backdrop of the diversity of Android TV. Another disadvantage of the TV is the Wi-Fi 4 module, with which streaming 4K video may not have time to load.

The complete remote control differs from the basic versions by the presence of a microphone for voice control and the built-in Alexa function. This voice assistant is useful both for content search and for interacting with smart home devices.

Philips 50PUS7855 is a balanced TV in the entry price segment in terms of design, picture quality and control comfort.
