Ear temperature measurement

The Omron Gentle Temp 520 Ear Infrared Thermometer of a popular Japanese brand of home medical equipment is a multifunctional device for measuring body temperature and liquids. The high quality and reliability of the device is confirmed by a 3-year manufacturer's warranty. The characteristic design for this type of thermometer has a flat handle with a curved head, on which the tip of the ear probe with a temperature sensor is mounted. When not in use, the tip is covered with a transparent plastic cap. On the back of the head there is a large "Start" button, which starts the temperature measurement. On the front side of the device there is a backlit LED-display deeply recessed into the body. Directly below it is the power button, which also allows you to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius and at the same time is a memory cell selector (9 readings).

Hygienic caps for ear probe

The manufacturer believes that ear temperature measurement is more accurate because this area is less affected by external factors. The stated measurement range is between 34 – 42 °C with an accuracy of 0.2 °C. In addition to temperature values, the LED display shows the battery level and indication of measurement errors. The device is powered by a 3-volt CR2032 tablet, which is included in the package along with 21 disposable ear probe caps. Any measurement of body temperature in the auricle requires the installation of a hygienic cap to protect the infrared sensor. The built-in beeper beeps the end of the measurement or reports the presence of an elevated temperature (over 37.5 °C). If necessary, the audible signal can be switched off, and its status is also indicated by a symbol on the display. Upon completion of measurements, you can wait for the device to turn off automatically after 60 seconds or turn it off manually by holding down the power button.
