Partner Ableton

The main feature of the Lauchkey 49 MK 2 is its sharpness for DAWs that are focused on launching clips (Ableton or FL Studio). Unlike the first revision of the Novation Launchkey 49, the pads here received full backlighting technology, and it is no longer four-colour, as before, but supports the entire range of RGB colours. This is especially helpful for Ableton Live users, as the pads now colour-code the clips they control, making it easier to navigate live performances.

Launchpad in miniature

It's basically part of the popular Novation Launchpad controller that's built into a MIDI keyboard. And it is also picked up in Ableton, without the need to assign any buttons manually. Pads, if desired, can be tied up to control a regular sampler and stuff beats. Unlike the first version, they are all right with sensitivity. But you will have to aim more precisely, since they are small here.

Improvements

Compared to the first version, the design of the keyboard and the modulation and pitch wheels have also undergone some changes. No, they're still regular spring-loaded synth keys, but they're more durable and sit more securely in place. The mod wheel now sits more firmly in place and no longer tries to go back down on its own.

Not without sin

However some family sores remained from the predecessors. Firstly, the black keys stick out unusually high here, which is why you have to get used to them. Secondly, there is still a small distance between the rotary controls and the clip section, so it is not very convenient to turn two adjacent knobs at the same time. Well, I would like aftertouch support, competitors usually have it for the same money.
