In Moog's signature style

The music industry has totally changed in these 10 years. A lot of amateur producers have appeared (some of them have already won Grammys) and the instrument market has had to adapt. And if the Japanese from Korg and Roland went in the direction of digital multiengines, their American colleagues from the Moog company experimented less willingly, trying to keep the well-recognized features of Moog synthesizers in each of their devices. In the case of the Subsequent 25, this commitment to values is reflected in the Minimoog's appearance, which remains virtually unchanged over time, in the design approach, and in the indispensable desire to wind up the fattest sound in the galaxy.

Analogue paraphonic beast

The Moog Subsequent 25 features a pair of main oscillators that can be played in mono or paraphonic mode. There's nothing new here. But the new multidrive filter is already interesting. According to Moog, they have created a unique analogue topology that combines an OTA distortion, FET driver and ladder filter. This makes the sound of the filter's overdrive change according to the level and quality of the input signal, allowing you to achieve a greater variety of tones. Throw in 4 CV input ports and you have a worthy companion for a modular system. The keyboard is traditionally excellent: full-sized, responsive, sensitive to touch force and with aftertouch support. Well, the overall quality of materials and assembly is traditionally cosmic.

Warm, analogue sound that cuts through any mix

In general, the combination of several oscillators, a filter and filter modulation gives a fairly diverse range of timbres at the output, but it is far from the variety of digital FM, wavetable and additive oscillators. His path is a warm, fat, analogue sound that breaks through any mix. And he is built like a tank and will probably survive more than one move from studio to studio. All things considered, we would recommend this model to Moog fans, purebred analogue sound fans and beginners who can afford it. It is easy to tame and almost impossible to squeeze a bad sound out of it.
