The Metabo ASE 18 LTX saw is a tool designed for intensive use in difficult conditions. The professional purpose of a saw is easy to see if you pay attention to its design. She, unlike household models, has a cast aluminium gearbox housing, which is necessary for precise fit of gears, shafts and other rotating and moving parts of the mechanism. Wide holes in the cooling system are clearly visible on the case, through which heat is removed from a running engine.

Despite the rather large weight (3.6 kg with battery), the saw is comfortable to use due to good balance (the mass is concentrated in the geometric centre of the saw) and ergonomic handles that provide a comfortable grip with both hands. Therefore, during operation, the tool can be held in any position necessary for sawing in a particular situation. Moreover, the blade can be rotated 180 degrees if you need to cut away from yourself, and not towards yourself (for example, to cut a branch from below or get close to the pipe from the most convenient side).

A worthy replacement for network reciprocating saws

In terms of power and performance, the saw is practically not inferior to its “sister” Metabo SSE 1100, which is powered by a network. It successfully handles with sawing boards and wooden beams, metal pipes and profiles, as well as hard polymer materials such as fiberglass or ebonite. Of course, the speed and depth of sawing largely depend on the quality of the equipment. The manufacturer recommends using only original Metabo reciprocating blades, but any other file with standard L-shank will work.

Users note that sometimes during operation there is a noticeable vibration, which, out of habit, may seem like a symptom of a breakdown. But such vibration is not a defect, but a design feature of this model. It appears only under heavy load and serves as a signal that you need to put lighter pressure on the saw.
