Tool for assemblers - "special forces"

Makita 4112HS wall chaser stands out from other manual models with its power (2400 W), which is necessary in order to perform heavy plunge and cut-off operations. A powerful motor with high torque and 305 mm diameter diamond wheels allow the tool to cut very deep grooves (up to 100 mm) in dense and durable building materials, including stone, concrete and brick. Therefore, this wall chaser is mainly used for cutting channels in walls and ceilings for pipelines and cable bundles. It can also partially replace a hand-held cut-off saw when working with concrete trays or ceramic blocks, and many builders use this tool that way.

Advantages and disadvantages

The tool is equipped with a safety clutch that protects the electric motor and gearbox from damage in case of overloads, and a “soft start” mode that starts the engine without jerking, characteristic of a powerful tool. The wall chaser has an excellent dust extraction system (provided that an appropriate construction vacuum cleaner is connected). The design of the mechanism for changing the depth of cut is well thought out. It is adjustable and securely fixed with a wing nut, so cutting depth can be changed almost on the fly without using a wrench.

The obvious disadvantages include a large weight (11.4 kg), which does not allow you to work holding the tool in outstretched hands, and a short cable (only 2 m), which partially limits movement. Quiet operation is not to be expected from powerful wall chasers, but this model is noisier than the rest. The volume level during the operation of the tool under load reaches 114 dB, so earplugs or protective headphones must be used.

When choosing a tool, it must be taken into account that this wall chaser has only one disk. That is, to make a channel, each gate must be passed at least twice. In addition, discs with a bore of 25.4 mm are used (they are much rarer on the market than diamond wheels with a bore of 22.2 mm, and are more expensive), which is not very profitable in terms of the cost of diamond wheels.

Heavy duty wall chaser for the toughest jobs

Wall chaser Makita 4112HS is designed for particularly difficult work and cutting very deep grooves. When solving simpler tasks (such as preparing shallow strobes for wiring), its capabilities will be redundant, and its advantages will not fully reveal themselves. Therefore, it is better for electricians to choose a tool among Metabo, DeWALT or Bosch wall chasers. And this model is suitable for those who are engaged in the installation of hidden pipelines and other communications that need to be deeply hidden in the thickness of a wall or ceiling.
