At maximum brightness, it hums (but not too much), at medium and low it hardly makes any noise at all. You don't notice it while watching movies, only in silence.
I can suggest painting the wall white, then you can adjust the image from 60 to 200 inches. In the evening, at 200 inches, it's an awesome experience. Watching movies is a pleasure. Recommend.
