How to choose a welding machineKey information about modern inverters and semi-automatic welding machines

Inverter Machine for Filigree Welding Work

Modern welding machines based on inverter technology with IGBT transistors and microprocessor control allow flexible adjustment of parameters for different types of work. This type of equipment includes the GTM MIG-200ES LED — a versatile model for manual arc (MMA), semi-automatic (MIG/MAG), and argon-arc (TIG) welding of parts from various metals and alloys. The machine is compatible with rutile, basic, and cellulose electrodes with diameters from 1.6 to 4 mm, as well as with regular and flux-cored wires with thicknesses from 0.6 to 1 mm. The spacious housing and reinforced feed mechanism are designed for installing spools weighing up to 5 kg.

Manual Settings or "Smart" Automatic Mode

A control panel with a clear and understandable interface is provided for selecting working parameters. The user can adjust the welding current in the range of 10 – 160 A for MMA and 50 – 200 A for MIG/MAG, change the wire feed speed up to 9 m/min, and switch between 2- and 4-stroke torch control. In MMA mode, the VRD system reduces the open circuit voltage, enhancing work safety. Functions such as "anti-sticking," "hot start," and "arc force" are also available. The sensitivity for the latter two can be adjusted separately.

One of the key features of the GTM MIG-200ES LED is the synergistic control mode. The welder needs only to set the main parameters, including the type of equipment used and metal thickness. After this, the microprocessor automatically selects suitable current and voltage values based on pre-loaded tables.

Ideal Semi-Automatic for Auto Repair Shops

Due to its relatively high cost, the GTM MIG-200ES LED is hard to consider the optimal solution for a typical home workshop. It is also not the best fit for intensive use in production or construction sites: when operating at maximum power, the duty cycle is 20%. However, the model performs well in precise welding of small parts, where accuracy and process control are particularly important. For example, its capabilities will be useful in bodywork at an auto repair shop.

Note: The machine supports argon arc welding; however, a TIG torch is not included in the package. Accessories required for this mode will need to be purchased separately.
