Google Cardboard is the easiest and cheapest way to get acquainted with virtual reality. Of course, in addition to $10 cardboard VR glasses, you will need a smartphone, be it Android or iPhone. Thankfully, almost everyone has a smartphone these days. The optimal model will be with a screen size of 5 to 6" and a screen resolution of FullHD or 2K.
Similar but different
There are two versions of Google Cardboard cardboard glasses on the market. The first older one requires you to connect a separately purchased Bluetooth joystick to navigate the menu of VR applications. The second one is controlled by a glance: you need to rotate your head, move the cursor over the button and hold for a few seconds, as a result of which the desired action will be performed. You can distinguish the second version of the glasses by a round magnet on the left side.
First try
Considering the ultra-low cost, cardboard Google Cardboard can be forgiven without a drop of doubt for fragility and quickly getting dirty. This is a kind of probe of VR technologies - it doesn’t even have a strap in the kit, you have to hold it with your hands near your face. If you like it, you will absolutely want to buy better goggles or a helmet.
