When the device is in operation, the air flow is created by an air jet ejected from the slot along the perimeter of the ellipse and entraining the surrounding air — in this way, it is possible to achieve a powerful and uniform air flow (whereas the fans of the classical scheme produce a rather unstable, "chopped" flow).
