The road to work is not a hindrance

With the Latitude series, Dell delivers durable, rugged and mobile laptops that are designed to fit quickly in a bag, start up with a half turn and create a minimum of problems. If you look under the hood of the laptop, then there we will see a 4-core eighth-generation Core i5 processor (maximum frequency 4 GHz, multi-threading support), 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a massive 1000 GB HDD, unusual by the standards of 2020. On the one hand, the equipment is quite powerful, on the other hand, it is not entirely unambiguous. Especially considering the price tag. Add just a little and you will find models with an SSD and a full-fledged graphics card of the GTX 1650 Ti caliber from competitors for the same money.

Not for fun

However, the purpose of the laptop is not to entertain after work, but rather to become a reliable partner on business trips and work trips. The graphics card was removed so that the laptop could work on a single charge all day long, instead of a fashionable ulbrabook case, it was upgraded in terms of security (there is a kensington/noble lock, TPM security module and Dell Client Command Suite software) and provided with such a rich set of ports that any peripherals regardless of the year of manufacture. There are even RJ-45 and VGA outputs, which you rarely find anywhere else. Still Thunderbolt for complete beauty, but it is usually not used in such laptops.

Classic design

There is nothing outstanding or unusual in the design of the model — this is a classic laptop, with old-school thick frames around the screen. Nevertheless, it is pleasant to look at, well built and has a compact and thin body of 18 mm. This is one of the thinnest laptops in its class. In terms of positioning, what is more important is that the laptop is perfectly assembled: it does not have any backlash and creaks, and the lid and palm space sag only with noticeable effort. Although, this is a disease of almost all laptops with a plastic case. In general, certification to the military standard MIL-STD-810G allows us to say that this baby will survive a lot.

TN+film display

At the same time, the screen received not the best TN-matrix with Full HD resolution, which is more than enough for a diagonal of 15". But the brightness margin could be better — using a laptop in sunny weather is frankly inconvenient. In addition, traditionally for TN matrices, the screen does not have the widest viewing angles. Taking into account the not very limited price, Dell could have strained and supplied an IPS-matrix adequate to this class, and not shrugged off buyers, they say, to work on a train and so it will do.
