good model, I liked it
25 October 2017
Seven years ago, when I was still in university, my father gave me my first Dell XPS. Since then, I haven't even been interested in looking at other models. Yeah, there's Apple with their MacBook, but with their iOS and unique infrastructure, they're not really appealing. I bought this laptop as an upgrade. Software demands are growing very quickly; browsers alone can now consume 4-6 GB of memory without a hitch, but this laptop will definitely last me more than a year.
Since this is Dell's premium line and this model specifically belongs to the higher end in this line, a detailed description of its advantages might take more than one page. So I'll be brief. The first thing that stands out is the magnificent UltraHD screen with an IPS IGZO(!) panel and thin bezels. The 3840x2160 resolution on a 15.6-inch diagonal gives such a pixel density per inch that many smartphones would envy. Thanks to the glossy coating, the picture is ultra-clear. Additionally, the screen is touch-sensitive, supports 10-point multitouch, and has a light sensor. The laptop's body is made of aluminum and carbon fiber, weighing only 1.8 kg with a thickness of 17 mm. Inside, it has a top-tier Intel mobile platform based on the quad-core Core i7-7700HQ with 16 GB of RAM, a 512 GB SSD, and a gaming-class discrete graphics card GeForce GTX 1050. The hardware is powerful, but it can operate autonomously for 5-7 hours thanks to a large battery. For peripheral connections, there are 3 USB ports, including USB 3.1 Type C Gen 2, HDMI, and Thunderbolt 3. Network connection is available via wired gigabit and high-speed wireless 802.11ac.
In strong external lighting, the screen noticeably glares, and increasing the brightness only partially solves the problem. And the price is just exorbitant, but that's how it is with the Dell XPS series.
