Manufacturers of thousands of little things for the PC have recently become very adept at acoustics. If earlier companies like Sven and Defender specialized mainly in small and inexpensive speakers from the "just to be" class, now they release quite high-quality and multifunctional acoustic sets that sound decent against the background of "masters" like Edifier and Microlab.

Inexpensive and multifunctional set

The class 2.1 kit Defender X420 is a clear confirmation of this. With a bargain price of more than 50 dollars, it sounds quite decent, and in terms of functionality it bypasses many much more expensive acoustic sets from famous brands. For example, there is a built-in player with support for flash drives and memory cards, a built-in radio, wireless Bluetooth connection and full control of high and low frequencies.

40W power

In terms of sound Defender X420 is somewhere in the middle between "good" and "bad". On the one hand, they do not want to turn off after 5 minutes of use, like many cheap speakers. On the other hand, when compared with really high-quality acoustics, it immediately becomes clear why it costs so much. The only thing missing is the power reserve of the subwoofer — only 16 watts out of the total 40 are allocated to it and it sounds rather restrained.

Pleasant appearance

However, considering that the Defender X420 is still created not for music, but for games and movies, and for all this they ask for a little more than $50, the final result can be safely called positive. Plus, they look great. However the backlight of the huge control ring on the subwoofer is too bright and without the ability to turn it off, which can annoy someone.
