Cheap doesn't mean bad

The Defender brand has never tried to compete with mastodons like Razer and Logitech, preferring to play in the field of low-cost keyboards. Because of this, many people have built a strong connection in their heads “Defender = cheap, cheerful and generally so-so”. And this is not entirely fair, because in fact, in the assortment of the company you can always find something interesting. An excellent example is the hero of this review — the Oscar SM-660L Pro membrane keyboard.

Familiar face

So, the model is a direct successor of another successful representative of the Oscar line — Defender Oscar 600. It uses the same membrane base with low-set keys. It is just as thin, stylish and neat, with memorable chopped edges and an armrest. Seriously, this is the top five for the company's designers, despite the modest price tag by the standards of gaming keyboards, outwardly it resembles premium models from Logitech. In fact, everything is simpler here: under the wing of the Defender, the Redragon gaming division sheltered and the design of this model actually completely copies the appearance of the Redragon Karura.

Solid blue backlight

The main changes affected the material of the stand (there was a mesh coating, soft-touch plastic became) and backlighting. We immediately say that the backlight is not RGB, but plain blue. It looks good and helps when printing in the dark, thanks for that. The only negative is that the Num Lock, Caps Lock and Scroll Lock keys "shine" much brighter than other keys and literally hit the eyes when playing in complete darkness. Well, being a gaming keyboard, it is not very good at handling multiple keys at the same time. Otherwise, this is a very successful model with an excellent price-quality ratio.
